ReAding TiMe in 5-MinuTe inTeRvALS
The minute hand moves from one digit to the next digit in 5 minutes. When the
minute hand is on 1, it means 1 × 5 = 5 minutes have passed. When the minute
hand is on 2, it means 2 × 5 = 10 minutes have passed and so on.
Past and To
When the minute hand moves from one number to the next number it covers 5
minutes (or 5 minutes have passed). Thus, starting from 12 and reaching 6 it covers
30 minutes. The time when the minute hand is at 6 is read out as 30 minutes past or
half past the hour.
